Apple Pay

Using Your Heritage Family cards with Apple Pay

Add your Heritage Family debit card or Emerald VISA credit card to the Passbook® app on your iPhone® 6 or later and turn your iPhone into a mobile wallet with Apple Pay.

Now paying in stores happens in one natural motion — there’s no need to open an app or even wake your display thanks to the innovative Near Field Communication antenna starting in iPhone 6. To pay, just hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. You don’t even have to look at the screen to know your payment information was successfully sent, a subtle vibration and beep let you know. The transaction is secure and all the same VISA® card benefits and protections apply.

How It Works

Set up Apple Pay using the instructions below. You may be asked to contact Heritage Family Credit Union to have your information verified before your card is loaded to the Passbook app.

The first time you open the Passbook app you can use the ‘scan code’ option to add a new card. If you’re already using the Passbook app, select the ‘+’ symbol in the upper right hand corner to add another card. Or:

• Open the Settings on your iPhone 6 or later
• Scroll down to the ‘Passbook & Apple Pay’ menu option
• Select ‘Add Credit or Debit Card’
• Follow the instructions to manually enter your card information or use the camera on your phone to take a picture of your card

While the card is being activated and assigned a secure, encrypted token number, you will see that the card has been added to your device. This does not necessarily mean the card is ready for use. Continue to follow the on-screen prompts and look for a message that will state you need to contact Heritage Family to verify your card.

When Making a Purchase

The Passbook app may automatically open on your Apple Pay compatible device when held near the merchants card reader without requiring you to open the app. Your fingerprint or security code will then be required to process the transaction. If this doesn’t happen, follow the instructions below:

• Open the Passbook app and select the card you would like to use
• Hold your phone near the merchant’s device to initiate the transaction
• If you have Touch ID activated the symbol will appear automatically, otherwise enter your passcode to complete the transaction

Using Touch ID is the fastest way to complete your transaction. Touch ID uses your thumb print to authorize the use of your debit or credit card with Apple Pay. Touch ID can also be used with many other features on your phone such as unlocking your phone or making purchases in iTunes. To set up Touch ID:

• Open the Settings on your phone
• Select the ‘Touch ID & Passcode’ menu option
• Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the Touch ID set up

When making a purchase, there may be times the merchant asks for the last four or five digits on your card. When using Apple Pay, provide the merchant with the Device Account Number rather than the actual numbers on your card. To locate the Device Account Number:

• Select the ‘i’ icon below the payment card in the Passbook app (this information icon is small in size and located in the bottom right hand corner)
• Scroll down the information menu to the Device Account Number display

Note: Currently, all VISA cards offered by Heritage Family (debit and credit) are authorized for use with Apple Pay.

Security

With Apple Pay, none of your personal or card information is stored on your device. Instead, a unique token is sent from your phone to the merchant and through their processor. It’s not until the information reaches the card issuer (VISA) that the information is unencrypted and matched to you. In the event your device is misplaced or stolen you can use the Apple Find My iPhone feature to remotely lock, or even erase your phone before calling to report the loss.

Google Pay

Choice

Choose your device, add your credit or debit cards, and you’re all set. Wherever you are — at a store or in an app — you’re ready to use Google Pay.

Simplicity

Forget fumbling through your wallet and handing over a card next time you’re in a store. With Google Pay you can simply unlock your phone, place it near a contactless terminal, and you’re good to go. You don’t even need to open an app. Tap and pay is that fast, that easy. And when you tap at select merchants, your loyalty points and offers are automatically applied at checkout too. Within apps just select “Buy with Google Pay” and leave the rest to us; online checkout is as simple as a tap.

Security

Google Pay doesn’t send your actual credit or debit card number with your payment. Instead we use a virtual account number to represent your account information — so your card details stay safe.
As soon as you make a purchase, you’ll see a payment confirmation that shows you exactly where a given transaction happened, along with the merchant’s name and number. So it’s easy to catch any suspicious activity. No more frantically canceling your credit cards. If your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can instantly lock your device from anywhere, secure it with a new password, even wipe it clean of your personal information.
