Recently you’ve heard about our plans to continue to implement additional digital services, so I wanted to take a few minutes to better explain our initiatives and our digital strategy in the future.

Our digital strategy does not mean the end of branches at Heritage Family Credit Union. Quite the opposite. We need to offer both in-branch service and digital options as our business continues to evolve, so we can meet the growing needs of an ever-expanding diverse membership base. While digital services are great for some member’s transactional business, it will never replace the expertise of our knowledgeable staff when a question or issue arises.

This new technology, like Video Branch and Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), is not being installed to replace tellers. Our tellers are a valuable asset to the credit union and an integral part of the quality of service that we provide to all of you. These new services are being rolled out to ENHANCE that service and upgrade our product offerings to our members. Not only do digital options provide a touchless alternative for members that would prefer self-service capabilities due to the pandemic, they also assist in faster service when our teller lines are backed up at some of our busiest branches.

You need that full-service approach that we’ve always strived to deliver in order to give you that peace-of-mind you seek from your financial partner.

In the future, we plan to install ITMs at some of our drive-up locations, replacing the tube systems. This will allow our tellers to work remotely from our call center, handling member transactions via video for numerous branch locations, instead of being stuck in one drive-up area.

As with all of our digital options, including our mobile app, we want to provide a seamless experience for our members in servicing your financial needs, no matter how you wish to interact with us. I hope you will take the opportunity to utilize some of these new digital options and conduct routine transactions at your leisure, without having to rely on a live teller to assist you.

If you have any questions about the new digital options or about Heritage Family Credit Union’s strategy, I encourage you to visit a branch and chat with us. This is your credit union and we are excited to serve you.

Coming Soon! Interactive Teller MachinesComing Soon:
Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs)

Our new Interactive Teller Machines will allow members to conveniently conduct a much wider range of transactions than before. ITMs are able to do all the things an ATM can do - plus much more!
Members will now be able to make an on-screen payment to a loan/mortgage/credit card, cash a check, or choose a breakdown of various bills for cash withdrawals. Live video assistance with a Video Branch Representative will also be available when needed at the touch of a button during regular business hours.
Our first ITM will be launching soon at the Fair Haven drive-thru. Our lobbies at Allen St. and West St. are also currently under construction as we work to install machines at both branches. More locations will be announced soon!
With the addition of ITMs, our members should experience shorter lines, while still having the option to receive personal assistance each step of the way. This is an important step in our ongoing digital transformation, to provide service wherever and whenever you need it.
Additional features that are new with ITMs include check cashing, ordering checks, and the ability to exchange bills within the machine. You will also be able to choose to have a receipt emailed to you instead of printed.
We are excited to offer these expanded services and we hope you'll take the opportunity to utilize all the services that ITMs have to offer.

2022 Calendar and Images

ICU Day is October 21!

Each year, Credit Unions across the world come together on the third Thursday of October to celebrate International Credit Union Day. Honoring the spirit of "People Helping People," ICU Day is a chance to raise awareness of the many ways members can benefit from trusting in a Credit Union as their primary financial institution. This year's theme is "Building financial health for a brighter tomorrow."

And speaking of brighter tomorrows, our 2022 calendars will be available to members in our branches beginning on ICU Day! This year's calendars feature a special design - with all the images created by our youngest members at HFCU as part of our Youth Savings Month poster contest this past April.

Our HFCU Super Savers who created artwork for the calendar include first graders Cayden Barr, Maxim Burrell, Ezri Dunham, Melanie Gibson, Landen Hunt, Jax Hurley, Cianna Kaley, Annalise Loveland, and Eivin Surdam; third grader Nehemiah Robichaud; and fourth graders Edie Grossarth and Yireh Robichaud. We look forward to turning the page to the Year of the Super Saver!

Be on the Lookout for Fraud!

We continue to see an increase in fraudulent activity and scams attempting to take advantage of our members. People engaged in fraud are usually friendly, with pleasant, authoritative voices - this is how they are able to gain trust. If you find yourself in a situation where you are answering "YES" to any of the questions below, you may be at risk of being involved in a fraudulent scheme.
Are you being pressured to:
• give someone gift cards or money?
• transfer the title to your home, property or other asset?
• make someone a power of attorney or joint account holder?
• purchase an item you have not seen in person?
• deposit a check you weren't expecting by using an ATM?
Have you been contacted by:
• someone who is from another country and has asked you to make a withdrawal?
• someone who claims to be with law enforcement or a financial regulatory agency asking you to
withdraw money to help with an investigation or to pay taxes for an alleged debt?
• someone who has befriended you and is now asking you to invest or to share cash/valuables?
• someone who claims to have found money and will share if you provide a "good faith" payment?
• someone who claims a recently-deceased family member made a large purchase and now you
are obligated to pay for it?
• someone who claims to be a family member in an embarrassing situation or emergency?
When it comes to protecting yourself from fraud, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. We encourage our members to take advantage of the security alerts included within eBranch, and if you find yourself in situations like those in the list above, please notify HFCU as soon as possible!.
