President's Message

As we all know, the past 7 months have been truly unprecedented and some of our lives have been completely rearranged and redefined by this pandemic. As your financial partner, we’ve worked diligently through these challenging times to assist our members navigating these waters, help our area businesses stay afloat and keep our employees safe.

An image of Matt Levandowski, HFCU President/CEOJust like airline travel changed after 9/11, I believe financial institutions will be forever changed after this crisis is over. That’s why we’ve been researching new and existing technologies to help strengthen our service levels and extend the availability of our employees to you, beyond the walls of our branches.

To that end, we’ve recently partnered with one of the top-rated video banking solutions in the market. This new secure solution will allow you to use your smart device to meet with any of our knowledgeable staff, face-to-face, to service any of your accounts or loans AND obtain, review, and sign the appropriate documents needed in order to complete your transaction without coming into the branch. Video banking will improve our service levels to you by assisting you real time, allowing our staff to work remotely if needed and increasing operational efficiencies within the credit union.  We hope to have this new option available for member use by the end of 2020.

  • Also, by August 2021, we should have self-service kiosks deployed at a few of our branches, similar to those used by the airlines. These new kiosks will allow you to conduct a wider variety of transactions than those found at our ATMs. Called Interactive Teller Machines, these devices will also allow you to “interact” with an employee through video, if need be, to complete more complex transactions.  After hours, these machines will act like a normal ATM.
  • I hope you are as excited about these new service delivery methods as I am and will plan to learn more about them as they become available for use. We will continue to look at technological options in discovering new opportunities to service you in a deeper capacity, cultivate our member experiences and reinvent our branches.

As always, thank you for your membership in HFCU and please remain healthy and safe during these times.

Matt Levandowski

New Field of Membership MapHFCU Expands Field of Membership

Following the U.S. Supreme Court's July decision not to hear the "American Bankers Association vs. National Credit Union Administration" case, Credit Unions across the country are now able to help more Americans through expanded fields of membership.

The Board of Directors of HFCU ratified an expanded field of membership in July 2020. In addition to the Vermont counties of Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Windham and Windsor and the Town of Hooksett, NH included in the previous field of membership, Heritage Family Credit Union is now open to those who live, work, worship, go to school, volunteer, or regularly do business in Sullivan, Cheshire, Merrimack, and portions of Hillsborough and Rockingham counties in New Hampshire; portions of Washington and Rensselaer counties in New York; and portions of Berkshire and Franklin counties in Massachusetts.

For a full list of communities included in our expanded field of membership, visit www.hfcuvt.com/become-a-member/membership-eligibility/

Matt Levandowski with Business Leader of the Year awardHFCU President/CEO Matt Levandowski Named Rutland Region's Business Leader of the Year

Chamber and Economic Development of the Rutland Region recently announced that HFCU President/CEO, Matt Levandowski, has been named the recipient of the 2020 Business Leader of the Year award.

For the past 29 years, Matt has been a part of our Heritage Family Credit Union team. He likes to say that he's done every job at the Credit Union that there is, which made him the ideal fit to lead after longtime CEO Ron Hance's retirement. Under Matt's leadership, we are proud that HFCU has routinely been recognized as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Vermont.

In addition to his commitment to our employees and 50,000 members, Matt also serves the community as a volunteer, most recently serving as the Board Chair of the Paramount Theatre and has helped organize their successful Festival of Trees event for many years.

Please join us in celebrating the Business Leader of the Year, Matt Levandowski!

ICU Day is October 15

ICU Day Logo
Every year, Credit Unions all over the world come together on the third Thursday of October to celebrate International Credit Union Day, raising awareness about the many ways that members can benefit by trusting a Credit Union to be their primary financial institution.

This year's ICU Day theme is "Inspiring Hope for a Global Community." Although we won’t be able to celebrate in person this year, we’d like to thank you for your membership in our credit union, and we hope you’ll look for opportunities every day to inspire hope in your community.
