President's Message

I continue to be amazed at how quickly the year seems to fly by.  Wasn’t it just a few months ago we were ringing in 2017?  Now it is quickly becoming a distant memory.  Look out 2018, here we come.

Before we get too far into the new year, I just want to update everyone on the status of your credit union.  Heritage Family continues to receive high marks from our outside auditors and own Supervisory Committee.  Our financials are in great shape and as a whole, your credit union grew a little over 7% for the year to $460 million in assets.

In addition to keeping our financials strong, the staff worked on numerous projects, including the opening of our Castleton branch and the purchase of property in Manchester, which will house our 11th branch opening this spring.

However, probably the largest project we completed last year was one not many members knew about.   This past November, we were approved by the NCUA to expand our service area, or Field of Membership, to include certain border towns along the NY and MA borders.  This will allow those people living in those states that are close to the Fair Haven and Bennington branches to take advantage of the services Heritage Family has to offer.  For many years, we’ve had to turn away potential members that lived in those towns because of our restrictions.  In addition, we were also approved to expand into the Manchester, NH market, which will allow more people to utilize our Hooksett branch.

As anyone knows when working with the government, this was an extremely long and laborious task, but one that will benefit the credit union and its membership for many years to come.

Looking forward, in 2018 and beyond, we will continue working with our members to ensure we deliver the best possible service and help them toward our vision of “families prospering through cooperation”.  As always, thank you for your membership and I wish you all the best in 2018.

The Fair Haven and Castleton branches were able to deliver a car full of food to the Fair Haven Shaw’s where their local stuff a “bus” was a police cruiser. The Brandon branch was also able to donate to their local food shelf!
