President's MessageAn image of Matt Levandowski, HFCU President/CEO

2020 certainly was a year like no other. A global pandemic yielded some unprecedented challenges that, unfortunately, changed some peoples lives forever.

It was a year in which the Credit Union philosophy of people helping people” took on an even deeper meaning for us at Heritage Family.  Through all of these difficult times, our commitment to our members, employees and the communities that we serve has not wavered. Together, we have persevered and developed partnerships to meet these challenges and become an even stronger financial institution.

Despite the economic impact of COVID-19, I am pleased to report that your Credit Union continues to remain financially healthy. Over the past year, we assisted over 340 area businesses obtain $16 million in PPP loans, processed an untold number of mortgage and home equity loans and grew deposits an astonishing 24%. All of this activity helped push our assets to an all-time high of $620 million.

  • As we enter 2021, we want to maintain that financial health and stability. It is with that in mind that I want to let everyone know of a change that will be occurring to our operations at the end of the first quarter. Effective April 1, 2021, we will be closing our North Main Street branch. This branch was obtained as a part of the merger with CVPS Employees' Credit Union in 2012. In addition, it is one of only two branches that we lease. Over the past several years, weve seen in-branch traffic continue to decline at this location, which was further escalated by the pandemic.  We consequently have made the decision not to renew the lease expiring on March 31, 2021.
  • While we are closing one branch in Rutland, we will still have our Allen and West Street locations available to service all of your in-branch needs.  In addition, those employees and resources from North Main St. will be redeployed assisting us in elevating our digital strategies. As mentioned in my previous newsletter, this will include the introduction of both the video branch and Interactive Teller Machines in the coming year to better serve the ever-evolving needs of our members.

With so many uncertainties still hovering over us as we go head first into 2021, I want to remind everyone that your credit union is here to service all of your financial needs. As a financial cooperative”, we want to assist you throughout all of your life stages. Whether you are ready to borrow for a new home or car, looking for advice regarding your investment options or in need of a little assistance budgeting for those unexpected expenses, we have the expertise on staff to help you along the way.
Heres to a great 2021! Wishing you all the best.
