Here TODAY. Here TOMORROW. Here for YOU!

That sounds so simple, but in today’s ever-changing financial landscape, I thought it was important for you to understand that Heritage Family will be here to meet your financial needs for many years to come.

With the news of People’s United Bank getting bought out by M&T Bank, and VSECU merging into New England Federal Credit Union, I’m sure questions abound as to where HFCU stands on this subject. I can assure you that we are, and have always been, your financial institution, committed to serving our members' needs throughout your financial lives and we will always be “here for you.” The Board of Directors and I are committed to Heritage Family remaining a vibrant part of our members’ lives and the communities we serve.

Yes, continued growth is important to remain a viable, stable financial institution to meet the ever-growing diverse needs of our members. But, growth just for the sake of growing doesn’t seem like a good strategy, in my opinion. And it certainly doesn’t feel good for those devoted supporters of the financial institution that is being left behind.

As HFCU celebrates our 66th year in operation, I am pleased to report that your financial institution has never been in better shape. With over $700 million in assets, another $230 million in assets under management in our Heritage Way Financial Services platform, over 49,000 members, 165 employees and 10 branches, HFCU has become the local financial choice of the many residents in the communities we serve. And we are proud of that distinction.

As we look to the future, we will continue to look at opportunities to expand our geographic footprint and better serve those underserved by a credit union, but it will not be at the expense of our loyal Heritage Family Credit Union members. We want to ensure that your financial cooperative is resilient enough to withstand, not only a pandemic, but the many challenges that lie ahead including crypto currency, Fintechs and traditional competition. What binds us together is your unwavering support as a member-owner. It’s our common denominator that differentiates us from those other financial institutions and allows us to thrive and not just survive.

I can assure you that your Board of Directors, management team, staff and I are committed to serving your needs and we remain proud to be your community credit union. Thank you for your continued support.

Matt Levandowski
President/CEO

Federal Reserve Raises Interest Rates

In March, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time since December 2018. Additionally, they have hinted at the probability that they will continue to raise rates over the course of this year. What does that mean to you, our members? With higher interest rates you can expect to pay more when you need to borrow money, whether that may be a new auto loan, mortgage or even your credit card.

As your credit union, we are here to help! Now is the time to consider refinancing any existing loans you may have at other financial institutions. Bringing your loans to Heritage Family Credit Union not only supports the collaborative membership, but it provides convenience and peace of mind for you, saving you time and money by having all your accounts in one place. And HFCU will rate match any existing term and rate, as low as 1.90% APR*.

And don’t forget those credit card balances, most card agreements include language that allows the financial institution to raise rates whenever they want, so now is the time to transfer any balances you may have on other cards to an HFCU Emerald VISA® card. You’ll never pay a balance transfer fee and you can pay your bill conveniently through eBranch home banking, our mobile app, at an ITM or even by visiting a teller.

Conveniently apply to refinance your loan or transfer your card balances online, by contacting us at 888.252.8932, visiting HFCUVT Video Branch, or stop by today to any of our 10 branches. Save time, save money and rest easy, we are here for you at Heritage Family Credit Union!

*APR=Annual Percentage Rate. Other rates and terms available. No additional discounts available. Certain credit criteria applies for lowest advertised rate. Certain restrictions apply. To qualify, a borrower must meet underwriting requirements. All loans are subject to approval. Rates subject to change without notice. Equal opportunity lender. Federally insured by NCUA.

Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs)

CASHING A CHECK? MAKING A DEPOSIT OR WITHDRAWAL?

If you haven't done so already, be sure to try out our Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs)! These machines are now in-branch at Allen St. and West St. in Rutland, along with in our Fair Haven Drive-Thru - with more locations following soon. ITMs offer an enhanced ATM experience, providing a convenient way to conduct transactions while helping to save our members from waiting in long lines. If you find that you need to speak with a local, friendly Heritage Family Credit Union team member, you're able to connect through video on the ITM, just as you would working with a teller.

Jody Garrow, Video Branch Representative
HFCU Employee of the Year

Jody Garrow, Video Branch Representative, was honored as Heritage Family's 2021 Employee of the Year, during the Credit Union's annual all-staff meeting in January.

Following the closure of our North Main Street branch in early 2021, Jody became our first all-virtual Financial Service Representative - playing an integral part in the launch of HFCUVT Video Branch and the live teller assistance component of our Interactive Teller Machines (ITM).

Many of our former North Main Street members have been happy to know that Jody is still only a Video Branch call away, and we are grateful for her hard work and dedication to HFCU and its members.

We're Here For You

How We Protect You, Our Members

Working to protect our members from fraud is one of our highest priorities. As your trusted financial
institution, we monitor patterns of account activity and if we notice something that is outside of your normal
pattern, our team may dig a little deeper to help protect you. As part of this process, we may need to ask you
questions such as:

• Where did you get your check from, do you know this person?

• Why are you making this large withdrawal? Can we give you a cashier's check instead?

• Could we please see your ID?

We ask questions like these to help protect you against ID Fraud, account takeover fraud, romance scams,
check fraud, fraudulent goods being sold over the internet, and many other schemes. When it comes to
protecting yourself from fraud, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. We encourage our
members to take advantage of the security alerts included within eBranch, and if you have questions about
a scenario that might be fraudulent, please call us at 888.252.8932 and we'll do our best to help!
