An Update from President/CEO Matt Levandowski

As we close out our second week of this new normal, we have a few things to update members on.

Drive-thrus in Rutland and Fair Haven have been extremely busy. We saw 17,500 transactions at those 3 locations just last week, an average of 3,500 per day. That's a lot of vehicles lining up and causing longer than normal wait times. The call center is also very busy servicing our member needs, averaging over 900 calls per day. Thank you for your patience. Please try out the free eBranch mobile app or online banking for your transaction needs, we don’t want you waiting any more than you do.

Beginning today, our small business members will be able to apply for several programs offered through the Small Business Administration because of the recently passed CARES act. Details are still emerging for this program and we hope to have more answers in the coming days. Our Business Department already has over 120 interested businesses in the pipeline for this new program. We encourage all businesses and self-employed members to contact their tax professional to discuss what options are best, and to reach out to the Business Department if we can be of assistance.

This week, we added an additional $500 in credit to any member that currently has a share draft line-of-credit. If you are interested in adding the protection of an Overdraft Line of Credit to your checking account, please contact us for assistance. Don’t forget, if you are in need of additional funds to pay for increased expenses or your income has been reduced because of Covid-19, we have options that may work for you. During this time of uncertainty, some of our members are experiencing anxiety and fear regarding their finances. This anxiety can cause behaviors that are out of the ordinary, as well as rumors and misinformation to spread. I want to help you better understand what to do in making smart financial decisions today and in the weeks to come.

 

Let me state that Heritage Family Credit Union is not closing to our members. You will have full access to your accounts and your money. Each one of your accounts continues to be federally insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration.

 

Your money is safer here at the credit union than it is anywhere else, so we discourage you from withdrawing large amounts of money from your accounts when you visit a branch. Carrying large sums of money on your person, in your vehicle or keeping it at your home will encourage criminal activity and we do not want you to become victimized. The safest place to keep your money is with your trusted financial institution. In addition, as evidenced by the past financial crisis, a run on cash creates instability in our economic marketplace and can make a downturn last longer than necessary. Your debit and credit cards are the best way to make purchases at this time. If you should need cash for everyday purchases, the ATMs are available for withdrawals and deposits.

 

We also encourage you to take full advantage of the digital services available to manage your accounts including eBranch, Smart Deposit, Bill Pay and the mobile app for your smartphone. Please take advantage of our online loan application, if you find yourself in need of additional funds.
